Morgan Avery Smith lived a brief but exceptional life. Three days shy of her three month birthday she passed away from sudden cardiac failure, a complication of her congenital heart disease. Her passing came unexpected, as she underwent open heart surgery at four days old and had a very successful repair. She was progressing and growing well in the loving arms of her family, but her little heart could no longer support her little body.
Morgan’s journey with Congenital Heart Disease with the defect, Truncus Arteriosis brought awareness to her family regarding heart disease. Becoming more involved and researching this horrible disease has left a life long impression on the family to build awareness. Her family is determined to remain active in the heart community moving forward in Morgan’s memory.
She is survived by her family members: Father and Mother Jeff and Kristina Smith, her three siblings Gavin, Taylor and Brooklyn. Also survived by her Grandparents Jim and Susan Smith, Bob and Diane Inman. She is also survived by a large community of friends of the Smith Family as well as her heart family supported through Camp Luck and Levine’s Children’s Hospital in Charlotte.
